The Third Annual Cajun Festival at Wakefield, Quebec (just 20 minutes from Ottawa [map]) is looking for Cajun Cooks from South Louisiana. If you're interested in participating, and speak French, please read the following and respond to Mr. Claude Lachaine (email and phone below). 

ATTENDANCE - 1,200 plus

FESTIVAL SITE - Grounds of the Wakefield community centre. Approx. 5 acres.

MUSIC - Cajun - Zydeco- Quebecois - Haitian Creole - <others to be confirmed>

ACTIVITIES - Clowns - face painting - horse drawn wagons - games - treasure hunt- fireworks -horses -< others to be confirmed>

SPORTS - Children's soccer tournament

KIOSKS - Local and Louisiana artists- organic produce market - vendors - Cajun accordion builder John Roger - Food

ARTIST SUPPORT - There will be an attendant to see to your needs while on site.

FESTIVAL HISTORY

The Cajun Festival begun in 2002 in Duclos, Quebec. Last year in 2003 the festival attendance more than quadruple the previous year. Duclos was far from everything, so now i have decided to bring it to Wakefield where there is room to grow. Tourist town.
I have hosted a Cajun radio show in Ottawa from 1997 to 2001. I then decided to start a festival. Since 1999, we have hosted a Cajun web site that is well networked. 

WAKEFIELD

This is a small town, that possesses an unmistakable charm. It is set by the Gatineau River and is surrounded by hills.
There are small shops, fantastic restaurants, patios, bakery, small galleries. But the big highlight is the " STEAM TRAIN".
This antique train takes tourists along the river , " YOU HAVE TO SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT " 
People from all over the world are attracted to this area. Houses sell very quickly around here ! A green community ......

SURROUNDING AREA

Golf courses / swimming / incredible hiking / horseback riding / canoeing-bike <rental> / nature trails / water slide park/ 

ACCOMMODATIONS- Free

Some of the people will be staying at my hobby farm -5 bedrooms <private entrance> others will be lodged at a local clean motel.
Maybe some private residences could be available. < top notch - respectable people>. Any one of the three will be comfortable.

I had posted $150.00 for gas money, but I expected one, maybe two people would respond. 24 hours later , 9 artists.
A very delightful surprise, indeed. However, I am open to suggestions ! .. 

We are building up a reputation as a well organized event, so we will do our very best, so you can spread the good news .

I speak french , Cajun french, as well as English, so i think we are covered. This area is bilingual.
