Cooking Louisiana - Creole Seasoning

Creole seasoning is a mixture of flavors that goes well with most Louisiana and Cajun Recipe dishes. It's not perfect for EVERY dish, so, don't hesitate to add a little more of one or more of the same ingredient, or others, to achieve the flavor you're looking for.

The following recipe contains SALT. If you are on a "NO SALT DIET", and, you are not on a potassium restricted diet, you can eliminate the real salt and add a salt substitute.  If you're not sure ask your Doctor. I AM one of those people and the salt substitute works fine for me. You can also leave the salt completely out and let everyone salt their food with whatever they like (real or substitute).

The ingredients below are all store bought dried, not fresh.

2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon dried leaf oregano
1 tablespoon dried thyme

Combine all ingredients thoroughly and store in an airtight jar or container.

I just saved one of my old seasoning containers and used that!

Yield: about 2/3 cup
