The Louisiana State
University Agricultural Center helps
our land and sea farmers harvest
their highest yields. Now,
the LSU AgCenter has delivered the end product to the table, all
in Louisiana style and class!
The Serving Louisiana cookbook is what I
consider the "final product" of the hard work of both the
farmer and the LSU AgCenter. This classy
book is perfect for any
coffee table and one that
anyone would be proud to display. More
than 150 contributors give this fine work a diverse blend of
Louisiana cooking styles. Serving Louisiana begins with a VIP section
that includes recipes from Louisiana's
world famous Chef John Folse and famed LSU Tiger
football coach Nick Saban, just to
name a few.
Within its 228
page hardcover, Serving Louisiana has over 240 old
and new, well written
recipes. A few favorites
include: Picante Chicken, Corn and Crab Soup, The Kids
Will Never Know Poorboys, Oysters a la LuLa, Crawfish Cornbread
Casserole, Sweet Potato Biscuits and King Cake. Additional
sections of Serving Louisiana are dedicated to Table
Etiquette, a Cajun Glossary, Quantity Cooking
and Essential Nutrients. It
does not get any more Louisiana than this!
Okay, why would you
not own one? Look, this
book is not only a deal for $21.95 but also an investment! The
cost comes out to less than 10 cents per recipe and I like to
consider all the other great information and exquisite
pictures by Donn Young as
lagniappe. You won't just show it off, you'll use it!
Again and again.....
Okay, how do you get it? Right now you have three choices, you can

Alright, here's your freebee...
If you are looking for
a recipe that tiger fans will love during cooler weather, former LSU
football coach Nick Saban has one that is a champ.
The LSU AgCenter cookbook, Serving Louisiana, includes
“Nick’s Baked Beans,” a hearty dish that is easy to prepare.
Nick’s Baked Beans

1 onion, chopped
¼ cup chopped bell pepper
2 (8-ounce) jars baked beans
¼ cup ketchup
¼ cup packed brown sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Brown the ground chuck with the onion and bell
pepper in a skillet, stirring until the ground chuck is crumbly;
drain. Stir in the baked beans, ketchup, brown sugar, salt and
